Social benefit sharing

Social benefit is the total benefit to a community from producing or consuming a good or service, and that includes wind farming.

The WinWind project identified more than 20 types of local social interventions, such as, new job creation; modernisation of municipal roads; installation of power lines; economic incentives for family with at least four children aged up to 25 years; “Baby Bonus” for new-borns; reimbursement of travel fees for students of secondary schools; educational services (cultural events) for all age groups. In some cases also contributions to local non-profit associations/foundations supporting social welfare projects were provided.
Among these, the WinWind project found that increased activity for local businesses and local employment, are very strong drivers for social acceptance.
